Updating a website

I currently run http://www.dmrguideuk.wordpress.com and looking to get my own domain for a revised site and also one I can update offline then upload the revised data
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Sure thing! Did you already register the domain?
If not, head over to https://wordpress.com/plans/ to see which option will fit your budget and project the best. If you have questions, just let us know. It’s best to start with the most affordable fit, because you can always upgrade or downgrade at any point. The plans are also refundable for 30 days after the initial purchase.
Once you have the plan added to the account, click on My Sites -> Domains -> Add. From there, you can register the domain of choice. There is not going to be any charge at that point because the domain is included with whatever plan you choose.

The unique domain is just one of the things I’m looking at. My main focus is to be able to work on the website offline and once I have completed updates or new pages, I can then upload them to the site which saves me time having to do the updates and publish them – I can work at my own pace.

Can you clarify whether you intend to edit your posts and pages offline, or whether you’re hoping to develop the entire site including plugins and themes offline?

It’s a basic site [currently under http://www.dmrguideuk.wordpress.com]. I hope to set it up offline then want to be able to do page content updates offline and possibly add pages as well for new content.

I’m aware I can set it up as private however the idea would be that I can do any work such as the setup and updates offline and then upload – this gives me freedom to work on the site and updates offline and without an internet connection.

@2e0ucw we don’t have an upload posts function.
That said, I may be mistaken but I think you can use the desktop apps offline. Have you tried those?

Actually, I’m trying to accomplish the same thing as 2e0ucw, but this string has run cold.
I’m trying to build a travel blog and will have no connectivity for weeks on-end. Ideally, I would be able to draft blog content locally, without an internet connection. Then once I am in a port with wi-fi, I can upload what I have done.
Is this possible with WordPress?
I’ve tried with the desktop app. But, to test it, I turned off my wi-fi. The app then stopped responding.
