Updating a work site that was started by someone no longer at the organization

I need to update a WordPress site for work, but the person who originally started the site is no longer at the organization. I don’t even know who this person was. Please help!

To be clear about this blogs belong to the people who register them and not to anyone else. If you can contact the person who registered the blog then there is a process for transferring the blog assuming he/she wishes to do that. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
If you cannot contact the blog owner then Staff will not violate privacy policy and provide the email address of the owner to you.
