Updating DNS doesn't work

  I’m trying to take my blog self-hosted so I bought hosting with godaddy.

  I have updated the DNS and my domain still isn’t working.

  I have updated the A record with their IP address and It has propagated but I’m getting a message saying my domain is unavailable or may not exist. I last updated several days ago.

  I read in the help notes that you sometimes have to do additional things to get it working so I was wondering what those are.

  I have also been in touch with their helpline several times and have done everything they suggested.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Did you change just the A Record? Or did you also change the Nameservers? You need to just do one or the other, doing both can muck things up.

  No, it looks like you’ve got the IP/Nameservers set correctly.

  I think I may have found the issue. I added a CNAME alias for http://www.aestheticcontradiction.com to point to aestheticcontradiction.com. Give it 24 hours and let me know if it still isn’t working correctly.

  Hi, yes what you did definitely worked, thank you! I was able to get into the admin panel. Now I’m having trouble importing importing my xml file though…

  If exporting your WordPress.com xml file is the trouble, let me know what is going on. If the import into your self-hosted site is the issue, you should probably look for help on the WordPress.org forums:

  http://wordpress.org/support/

  Or with your hosting provider’s support team. Due to not having access to your server or files, WordPress.com support staff cannot help with self hosted WordPress site issues. However, the WordPress.org support community is very knowledgeable and helpful.

  Thanks. It is the import I’m having trouble with I think. I exported the file without problems but it keeps timing out on the upload. I will have a look in the .org forums. Thanks for your help so far :).
