updating plugins and to wordpress 6.1

    Why is WordPress asking for my details to the backend of my sites to update plugins and to WordPress 6.1? I have been using WordPress for many years and was always able to update my plugins, and now I am getting this (Update failed: Could not create directory.

    WP.com: Unknown
    Jetpack: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hey there,

    Update failed: Could not create directory.

    That’s a hosting configuration issue, or you may be out of space.

    Why is WordPress asking for my details to the backend of my sites to update plugins and to WordPress 6.1?

    This may be related to that, but honestly it’s out of our wheelhouse here: these forums are for the free sites hosted and managed by WordPress.com, and our systems folks take care of all updates for our users:

    Were you updating through Jetpack perhaps?
