Updating WP Website
-
I’m trying to answer a question for a friend who hired someone to update their website (who has gone MIA) which appears to be done in WP. I have a few questions. 1. If the site was created in WP, shouldn’t my friend have a wordpress account so he can login and update? 2. Can a site that was created in WP be updated in another tool, for example Adobe Dreamweaver?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Probably you didn’t provide enough details for anyone to assist.
1/ If someone was hired to update a website surely the person who hired them would know the log in details as they’d need to provide access to the other person.
And perhaps the unnamed site could have been using the WordPress.org software rather than here at WordPress.com? Your site linked to this account is devoid of content after 9 years.
2/ No. -
I appreciate your reply; this was very helpful. I did get the login information from client, but when I went to wordpress.com, it did not recognize the username. Thanks to your response, I went to wordpress.org, click on GetWordPress, and click login and entered my information, but unfortunately, I still am unable to get into the site. I have to now go back to the client and confirm the login information,
Are you saying that after 9 years, the content WordPress is removed?

No I’m saying that you’re logged in to a WordPress.com account with a very old WordPress.com site that you created 9 years ago and is still unused: https://towandaj.wordpress.com/
Perhaps the site you need to reach isn’t to be found under this particular account and may not even be on WordPress.com servers.
The address of the site in question would help to confirm if it is indeed hosted here at WordPress.com or not so as to point you in the right direction of getting further help. -
My apology, there seems to be a miscommunication. The account I was referring to is a potential client I use to work for–not mine. He hired someone to redesign his site and they did it in WordPress, but the person went MIA and refused to complete it. They asked me if I would be able to help finish the site for them. I was able to access their mockup site. They have about 100 pages to be moved over, and I do not see an easier way to import the content. So it looks like I will have to cut and paste. I ask the potential client if they knew the type of account they have with Word press, so I can determine what type of technical support they can received, i.e., chat, phone.
Thanks for your help.

they did it in WordPress
Is the site hosted here at WordPress.com or elsewhere using the WordPress.org software? If it is the latter this is the wrong support forum.

PS: You don’t necessarily need to copy/paste when you can export/import with a .xml file.
