If I wanted to upgrade, buy domain ResponsesOfMine.com, and keep the site
    1. NON monetised
    2. Optionally, only track number of views, NOT locations

    Hi there!

If you want to buy the domain ResponsesOfMine.com you can do so with a Free plan, but your custom domain will automatically redirect you to your free URL from WordPress.com. If you don’t want the redirection to happen, you’ll have to set your new domain as a primary address and for this, you must upgrade to any paid plan.
You can read more about it from this link:
    https://wordpress.com/support/domains/#set-a-primary-address

If you don’t want to monetize your site, you can keep using the Free plan and you will be able to track the number of visitors and views, including the location with no problem. You can check the available stats here: https://wordpress.com/support/stats/#traffic

Upgrading to a plan would be a good idea as you would get your domain for free for one year, and you’d also remove WordPress.com ads with any plan, even the personal one. Check all the features here:
    https://wordpress.com/pricing/

    Good luck! 👍

  • Hello Neel,

There’s no way to not log the location that views on your site is coming from – there’s no options on WordPress.com to configure what information gets logged in stats.

Is there a particular reason why you don’t want to track that?

If you’re concerned about privacy laws, there’s no way at all to tie that location information to specific visitors to your site. We use the IP address of visitors to your site to log visit locations, but we don’t store the IPs themselves, and if the visitor is logged into a WordPress.com account at the time, we also don’t log that a specific WordPress.com account viewed your site.

The only way to know that a specific person visited your site is if they voluntarily shared that information by liking or commenting on a post.

To use your own domain you’ll need at least our Personal Plan.
