  If I would like to upgrade free word press blog to monetize it, can I upgrade only paying for a month instead of paying for whole year at once ?

  You can monetize your WordPress.com site by upgrading to the Premium plan at $99 per year paid annually in advance. There are currently no monthly payment plans.
