Upgrade Domain for Developer's Site
-
The domain we have been using seems to have expired: https://developer.scribblelive.com/
How do we get it up and running again?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I would be happy to assist you in renewing your subscription. However, the upgrade that was purchased is not associated with the account you contacted us from. Until recently, you were able to renew an upgrade that was under your account, but now only the owner of the upgrade can. To confirm ownership, post in this thread under the username/account that purchased the upgrade. Then, I can look into renewing the subscription upgrade. However, you should be able to renew the domain if logged into the account that owns the upgrade.
Also, the domain was only mapped to WordPress.com – it is registered elsewhere. So, I would check and make sure there the registration is up to day before mapping it back to the WordPress.com site. You’ll also need to point the nameservers back over.

Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Thanks for your response.
The previous owner left our organization 2 years ago. We’re not even sure if he was the “original” owner who purchased the upgrade or not. This was set up years ago, and we assumed that everything was on auto-renew until the site stopped working on January 21st. Our clients need to access this site, so we’re hoping you can help guide us to resolve this issue.
When logged in as the previous owner, we do not see a credit card on file in the “Manage Payments” section to make the upgrade. The mapped domain (developer.scribblelive.com) does not appear in the domain list either. When we search for it, it is unavailable.
Please tell us what our organization needs to provide in order to get this domain up and running. In the meantime, we are also taking your suggestion and confirming that our domain/sub-domains are indeed up to date.

I am posting as the previous owner:

The username you provided is not the previous owner of the account.
However, since the subscription is expired, you can technically purchase mapping for the domain under the username that you prefer. You again will just need access to the domain host in order to point the nameservers back over to WordPress.com. Mapping on this end should not be an issue.
Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

The only account owners I know about are myself (which I just switched back to the previous owner this afternoon)….and “scribblematt”….any other owner would have transferred ownership to matt years ago…and we no longer have record of who that is.
When I go to Domains > Add Domain > Already Own a Domain (Map It)…I type in our domain, and a message pops up saying “This domain was recently in use by someone else and is not available to map yet. Please try again later or contact support.”
Are you saying that this message is happening because our domain has expired with GoDaddy? If we update the domain with them, what is supposed to happen? The domain should automatically appear? Or is the expiration a WordPress issue and we just need to get permission from GoDaddy to re-map the domain?
-
We’ve confirmed that our domain – and all other subdomains, are indeed working. This leads me to believe that the issue is not our domain with GoDaddy…rather some WordPress restriction.
We want to pay to upgrade our domain so it works again.
Please help me pay you. :-)

Haha. Fair enough – even though the previous owner has an expired mapping subscription, it may be interfering with you mapping the domain.
Let me try one more thing here.
What I can do is e-mail the address associated with the account so that you can check all of your e-mails and see which one receives the message. All you would need to do is respond from that e-mail to verify ownership. Then, I will definitely be able to assist you in regaining access.
It’s a scribble live email address – but it is not Matt’s. Maybe a previous employer? I cannot divulge the email, but if it is a current employer, they should receive the email.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

We’ve checked with our team, and no-one has received the email you sent…which means it was sent to a previous employee. We don’t have access to the email accounts of all previous employees….so we’re stuck again.
I’d like to transfer ownership to a general company email address ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) to avoid this issue in the future if an individual employee leaves.
Is there any proof from our organization that we can send you all? We’re just trying to re-instate what we had a few weeks ago – a working mapped domain. I can provide the necessary credit card information to re-instate the subscription.
-
I can go ahead and transfer the mapping over to (email visible only to moderators and staff), but I do not see a WordPress.com account connected to that email. If you have not already, go ahead and create an account with that email and I will set up the mapping for you.
Thanks!
-
Ok – we’re all set up know, thanks!
We have (email visible only to moderators and staff) set up as the owner of the site.
Once you’ve set up the mapping on your end, please let me know what I need to do on my end. For example, do I need to go to the Domains section to add payment information?
Also, how do we make sure that any account notifications – expiration notices for example, will go to the site owner?
-
You have been so helpful – thank you so much!
I do have one last question:
We’ve added our credit card information, but how do we “pay now”? Is it set up for automatic renewal? We want to make sure that we’ve paid for the year to avoid any issues.
-
With the credit card on file now, your card will automatically be charged on February 14, 2017. I gave you a few more weeks of time which is why you didn’t need to pay immediately =).
