Upgrading

If i upgrade my blog, will WordPress take my personal address at all? And secondly if they do, will they send me any post or letters or anything like that?

    Thanks.

Are you asking about the Domain Mapping and Domain registration upgrade?

If so http://thisisthecreator.wordpress.com/ will remain and depending on what you register and map your visitors would also be able to visit your blog by entering http://thisisthecreator.com/ – you original blog will remain – the new name would be a second way that people can visit your site. If the upgrade expires then your old blog will still be there and people can still visit your old http://thisisthecreator.wordpress.com/ site

Thanks for the info, but I what I meant was that when I went to pay for the upgrade it asked for my home address. I just wanted to make sure they weren’t going to send any letters or anything like that through the post to me before I register.

An address is needed – it is an internet regulation – WordPress.COM will not send you anything – it is like any public information someone can access it – I got a couple of scam letters about domain renewal from scam artists – you can pay an extra $ 8– / year to have the privacy option to hide your personal information – then you will hide behind a third party that displays their contact information and a code for your domain name.

So if I go for the privacy option then does that garuntee that I will receive no letters from WordPress or anyone else involved, what so ever?

You will only receive a few emails from WordPress.COM (what ever you have recieved so far ) – relating to renewal of you upgrades etc unless you opt-in for their news letter – I have yet to receive a real letter from WordPress.COM. The only reason I can think of a real letter being sent would be some sort of legal something –

Nobody will be able to see your address information when they do a whois look-up so I don’t know how they would address a letter. There will be an encrypted email contact if someone does a whois – the email contact however goes to your privacy company –
