Upgrading Plans

    Hello,

I am looking to move my domain to wordpress. In the future, we would like to have an ecommerce website but don’t need all the functionality immediately. As such, we are looking to just use wordpress for our business email. If I pay for the basic plan to start, will I be able to upgrade plans within the year? Essentially, I want to buy the basic plan right now for the email but upgrade to the business plan several months later. Will I be charged the full year cost? or will it be prorated?

  • Hi there,

You can upgrade from one plan to another at any time. When you upgrade the cost of the new plan will be pro-rated based on the amount of time already elapsed on your original plan.

    Hey thanks for the response.

So does that mean that the price is prorated for time and not the plan? Essentially, what I’m asking is would the price be reduced because I payed for the basic plan?

Hypothetically, if i were to buy the basic and then upgrade to the business on the same day, would I pay the difference between the business and basic plan? Or would I be paying for the basic plan and the business plan both at full price?

Yes. If you paid $99 for example, then upgraded in six months, you’d have about half of that applied as credit toward your new plan. So if the business plan was $299, you’d get about $45 off that price, and would pay about $254.

The exact amount credited will depend on when you upgrade, whether you used a promotion, etc.

    Does that help?
