  Hey. I haven’t used WP in a few years, last time did I think I uploaded a theme for free, just tried uploading the same theme again today and it says I need a business account which is $300 a year! Is this a new charge or did I do something different last time? Thanks for your help.

  Hi there!

  If you were able to upload a theme for free, you did it on a self-hosted WordPress.org site.

  There are some differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. If you aren’t sure about them, please check the following page that explains it well: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org

  On WordPress.com, uploading plugins or third-party themes need the WordPress.com Business plan or higher. We’ve never allowed third-party themes on free WordPress.com sites.
