Uploading my own code to WordPress.com

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

    1. Can I choose to not use any of the templates? I mean, uploading my own code to maintain the desired look of the site. If it’s possible, how can i do that?

    2. Can I use my own local mysql database or do I have to create it on WordPress.com platform? (using xampp).

I’m very new to ‘Page builders’, so if these questions are out of place, please let me know. :P

    Greetings, Martin

  • Hi Martin,

    1. Can I choose to not use any of the templates? I mean, uploading my own code to maintain the desired look of the site. If it’s possible, how can i do that?

A WordPress site cannot exist without a theme. It’s possible to modify the appearance of an existing theme using custom CSS on our Premium plan, or to create your own custom theme and upload it on our Business Plan, but any WordPress site must have a WordPress theme.

You can find information on how to create your own WordPress theme here:

    https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/

    2. Can I use my own local mysql database or do I have to create it on WordPress.com platform? (using xampp).

On our Business Plan we offer access to the database via PHPMyAdmin, and you can upload your own database tables there. But you cannot use your own database instead of ours, as the WordPress software needs certain database tables in order to work correctly, as does the specific setup we use on WordPress.com.

Also note that we’re not able to provide support for any changes you make to the database in this way, aside from helping you restore a backup should you make a change that breaks your site.
