URGENT : delete google results

  • Unknown's avatar

I deleted my previous website but some pages appear (although they are empty now) on google results when one types my name. First I don’t understand how a connection between this website and my full name was made as I changed its title long before I closed it. I am very upset about it as I consider this is an atempt to my privacy. Second I want those Google results not to appear again. I also want the domain to be absolutely deleted and unaccessible.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

I deleted my previous website but some pages appear (although they are empty now) on google results when one types my name.

If your previous site was ‘public’ it was accessible to both the public and search engines:

Second I want those Google results not to appear again.

Any site changes, including deletion, can take 6 weeks (or more) to be reflected in search engine results. Although the content no longer exists on your site, it will still appear in search engines for a while until they have registered the change.

Second I want those Google results not to appear again.

You need to wait until your results drop off search engines; there is nothing we can do to speed this process up.

Come back to me if you have any questions.

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I actually found a way to solve this issue by using the “Google search Console”, which enables users to ask for suppression of search results linked to deleted pages. It was indeed not something WordPress could do anything about.

It’s good to know you resolved this on your own.

Deleting blogs and/or blog content or making the site private does not remove indexed content from the SERPs (search engine page results) and we cannot help with that. Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months. To completely remove an entire page from Google search results after it produces a 404 (page not found):

    Hi @lrndj,

You’re welcome! And I’m glad you’ve found a solution to the problem. As you say, you can use Google Search Console if you do want to wait for search engines to index the change.

Best of luck getting it sorted.
