url active but can't see the site

  Hi, my url is http://bestglobaltutor.com.
  In my store it says it is active till 13 Jan 2016. I have just renewed mapping also from https://globalenglishtutor.wordpress.com but the site is not live. Please help???

  Hi there,

  The domain mapping you have for bestglobaltutor.com allows you to point a domain that you registered elsewhere to your WordPress.com site. (Please note that you also need to keep the domain registration up to date at your domain registrar.)

  However, that domain isn’t pointed to WordPress.com right now. To point it to WordPress.com, you will need to update the domain’s name servers to the following:

  • NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
  • NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
  • NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

  You can contact your domain registrar for more help with that. Based on the publicly available information about the domain, the registrar is PublicDomainRegistry.

  I believe I purchased the bestglobaltutor.com url through wordpress. If I go into manage domains tho’ there is no where that I can update the name servers. Looking through the help menu it shows a menu item on the left but I have nothing??

  Hi there,

  You purchased domain mapping for the domain bestglobaltutor.com. That upgrade is for a domain that you already registered somewhere else, to point it to WordPress.com. It doesn’t register the domain for you — you need to already own the domain to use it.

  If you didn’t register the domain bestglobaltutor.com with PublicDomainRegistry, I’m afraid you don’t own it and can’t use it here at WordPress.com. In that case, I can refund the domain mapping renewal for you and you can register a new domain from your Domains page if you’d like.

  Hi, I did own the domain. The problem is it has obviously expired and I have no idea where I purchased it from. I thought I had purchased it from wordpress.
  Do you know of any way we can find out where a url was purchased from??

  Thanks for clarifying that. The domain is currently registered through PublicDomainRegistry — here are the publicly available details about the domain:

  Regardless of where it was originally purchased and registered, that’s where it’s registered now. It looks like someone else purchased the domain after it expired — you could try contacting them to see if they will sell the domain back to you. Please be sure to use a reputable online purchasing site for this transaction, if it happens.
