URL could not be retrieved

    Non of my WordPress pages (sites?), including my premium WP site, can be found on my iMac using Firefox or Safari – this must have happened last night sometime after 00:00 hrs GMT – all other searches look OK. I keep getting the following message:

    ERROR

    The requested URL could not be retrieved

    The following error was encountered while trying to retrieve the URL: http://blahffiti.wordpress.com/

    Connection to 192.0.81.250 failed.

    The system returned: (110) Connection timed out

    The remote host or network may be down. Please try the request again.

    Your cache administrator is webmaster.

    Hi there!

    I’m sorry you’re having trouble accessing your site. We’re looking into the issue currently. Could you provide us with the following information to help us investigate?

    1. Who is your ISP?
    2. What is your IP? (Visit https://www.google.com/#q=whats+my+ip)
    3. Can you visit these four sites and let me know if you can access any of them?

    Thanks I believe that the problem is now fixed. I can access all sites above. With the problem I was still able to visit (4) but not able to access my sites. This problem also occurred on my iPad and on a laptop running XP. Both of these were wireless connected to the internet.
    I assumed that the problem must be in the router. I couldn’t see any IP blocking (keywords etc) but clicked the boxes again anyway and logged out.
    Everything now seems to be working.

    Great! I’m so glad it’s working now. The IP blocking was actually on our end. I’m very sorry for the inconvenience.

    We have some automated security measures in place that prevent access from IP addresses that are seen as abusive or possibly harmful to WordPress.com. Sky, your ISP, routes traffic to the USA (and possibly other countries) for many of their customers over a small number of IP addresses, so in this case, one bad actor on Sky’s network caused multiple Sky customers to get blocked from accessing WordPress.com. We have identified the IP addresses in question and worked around this issue for now.
