I need help setting my URL back, but can’t currently get into my acct because it says DNS error – I updated the URL this morning because I’d like it to pull up with www in front of the url, but now it automatically changes to www and says DNS error “Your requested host “www.maevevintage.com” could not be resolved by DNS. Please make sure you typed the URL correctly.” Please help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

If you ever have trouble getting to your WordPress.com site’s dashboard, you can log in to WordPress.com at https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php and go to your My Blogs page. From there you can manage your site and get to the dashboard if you need.

However, right now your domain maevevintage.com isn’t pointed to WordPress.com. It has a custom A record pointing the domain to a different IP address (with a different host). If you’d like to point it back to WordPress.com, you can remove that A record with the Edit Domain button on your Store > My Domains page here:

    https://maevevintage.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

Well I read on a “support link” that if you want the “www” to work in front of it, then you need to update the URL, but I did that and now I can’t get back in to update it to remove the www so it will work correctly… at this point, no one can see my site…

I guess I don’t understand if it’s a wordpress based blog why it matters if we use a host or not?

I need to get back into my site and edit it to update the URL, but when I log in using the last link you provided, I can’t get to the settings of the site is there some way that I can get back into update this URL back?
The link I usually went to to get into it was maevevintage.com/wp-admin. I think this Maevevintage.wordpress.com is different… still, mine, but different than what I am trying to get in to.

    Hi there,

If you made that change on a self-hosted WordPress site (as opposed the site you have hosted here at WordPress.com), you’ll need to contact your host for more help with this issue. The support staff here at WordPress.com only has access to sites hosted here, so I can’t access your self-hosted site to help you regain access to that.

You can also get more help with self-hosted sites from the WordPress.org forums here:
