Use my credit card for Website renewal payment

  Hello, a friend of mine used his credit card for the payment of the yearly renewal fee for the Website of our association. This card jas now expired and the renewal is on November 23rd. I have added my Credit Card to deal with payment on my WordPress account and JCI Senate Belgium.org is considered as my main Website. But I don’t know how to do so that my credit card is used to pay for the renewal and it has not been used yet for this purpose. My friends keeps receiving warning that his card is expired and there will be an issue with the renewal payent next month. May I ask for your support? Thanks a lot in advance. Kind regards. Philippe

  Hi Philippe,

  Your account does not own any upgrades. I would not recommend that you add your card details on someone else’s account under ANY circumstances.

  If you need to be responsible for renewing the upgrades going forward, first ask the current owner of the upgrades to transfer those to you. To transfer the domain, they have to follow the steps at https://en.support.wordpress.com/transfer-a-domain-to-another-wordpress-com-account/, and to transfer the plan they’ll have to contact support from their own account so we can move the plan for them.

  Optionally they can also transfer ownership of the site itself to you, which will automatically transfer ownership of the plan, and remove them as a user on the site.

  Once that is done, you can enable automatic renewal by adding payment information directly to the upgrade at https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/

  What you’ve done is only add a new payment method to the billing history page. Payment methods added there can be used for new purchases on any site in the account, but they are not used for automatic renewal. For automatic renewal, the payment method must be added directly to the upgrade in question.
