used template to create contact page email and hover links don’t work

I have used a template to make a contact footer. in highlighting the text and inserting a hyper link does not forward it the nominated URL and once link is created it disappears off of the menu to even see. please help me . every you tube video has the same pathway which i am following . i am trying to all over my site create a read more capability function which allows readers to see more by staying within my own site and not going to an external site . i want ot hover over my email and have it prepopulate an email enquiry and have someone hover over a clickable link which is not in the main menu to see an expanded version. can you help please.
