Username changing issue

    Hi there, I deleted my old account with the username I wanted to use on my new Account, but it still saying that username is in use. But I was the one using it, and deleted it, so its not in use. Is there a time frame I need to wait for that username to become active?

    HI there,

    Once you delete your username you will not be able to retrieve it and the username will not be available for you or anyone to use.

    Change Your Username

    If you deleted your old account within the last 30 days, I can restore it for you so that you can get your username back. After 30 days, the username will no longer be available.

    Is there a reason you wanted to start over with the username? Did you want to delete all the sites under that username or change the email associated with it?

    If you would like to recover the username, please provide the name or email that is connected to the username in this thread. I will email the email connected to the deleted account to confirm ownership, and all you have to do is reply to the email. Then, I can restore the username for you.

    Please let me know how you would like to proceed.

    Well, my old one was tied to my old e-mail. And I just wanted a fresh start with my gmail, instead of my live. I thought if I deleted my old account, it would free up my username, so that I could change my current username, which is the whacky stry89939eab… to just stry8993, but it still says the name is in use. Its kind of a convoluted way of doing it, I know, probably could’ve just signed into my old account, but I was trying to set up my gravitar and it said I already had an account… I don’t know, honestly, I really wasn’t thinking critically about it. I just wanted this account to be stry8993.

    As mentioned multiple times during the deletion process, deleted usernames cannot be re-used.

    If you reply to the account deletion email, we may be able to recover the account for you.

    Then, you can simply change the email address on that account.
