Username unavailable but account has been deleted

    When I first signed up for WordPress in about 2010, I used a different email and username, that account has since been deleted but I would like to change my username to the original one, as that’s also my domain name. However when I try to do it, it says the username is unavailable but when I try to recover that account, it says it’s been deleted. How can I get my original username back without losing my content?

    While all data associated with an account is removed during a closure, the username is blocked from being registered again, in order to prevent impersonation.

    A couple of months ago, I deleted a wordpress account (and even recfeived a confirmation email) but when I google it, it still shows up.
    However, I don´t have the username and password anymore and so can´t seem to completely delete the account.
    What should I do?

    @mariacarlotamontenegro, please don’t post into old threads created by other people.

    A WordPress.com account cannot show up in Google. That’s impossible, as your account is something that only exists on our system, and we don’t share that data with Google, or anyone else.

    If you mean a WordPress.com site, then it’s very possible that it can still appear in Google even though it’s been deleted here. Deleting a WordPress.com site removes it from our servers. It does not remove the site from the indexes and caches maintained by search engines like Google, as those are completely different companies from us, and we have no ability to remove any information from their servers.

    If you’ve deleted a WordPress.com site but it’s still appearing in Google search results, the only people who can remove it from there is Google themselves.
