Using a domain registered on squarespace

Hi, a friend and I are building our first website and were recommended to squarespace. However, instead of purchasing a Squarespace plan, we purchased the domain first. Now we’re stuck, because squarespace wants to charge us $12 a month to use their site builder, which is too limited for our use case anyway.

What we want to know is how do we build our website on wordpress using the domain purchased via squarespace. I saw an option that cost $13/year to ‘map this domain to use it as your site’s address’. I am prepared to go for this option if it will resolve my issues.

  • Hi there,

You can use a domain bought from Squarespace on a WordPress.com site, yes.

To do that you’ll need to buy one of our paid plans at My Site ->Plans. All our plans include one free domain or domain mapping, so once you have the plan you can then add the domain mapping upgrade:

Use a Domain You Already Own (Domain Mapping)

The $13/year cost is if you want to add additional mapping upgrades to an existing plan. The first mapping upgrade can only be added as part of a paid plan.

Please let me know if you have any more questions about this.
