Using an iFrame on WordPress.com blog post

I am NOT self hosted, just using WordPress.com.
I want to be able to embed a social hiking interactive map in my blog post using an iframe.
I cannot see anyway that this can be done.
IF I just inlude the iframe inside DIV tags it disappears.
Is this really NOT possible unless the site is self hosted.
    Seems daft that.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Iframes and JavaScript widgets cannot be used on WordPress.com hosted blogs. The software strips them out for security as this is a multiuser blogging platform and on bad script or wonky iframe could take down many blogs.

So does that mean I have to change to hosted site (I have nowhere to host it), or cough up dosh to get it hosted?
Looks like I will be using blogger in that case.

It means you have to explore options other than WordPress.com for that, if it’s a deal-breaker for you. We can embed Google maps, but not interactive maps.

Not a problem, I will return to using Blogger.
    I can do it there.
I was just experimenting with WordPress.
I prefer it as a tool, but too many restrictions that require hosting so I will bin it.
