Using WordPress app but self-hosting

    Hi, I have a domain registered with Google pointing to Siteground self-hosting. I am interested in setting up a WordPress website and would really like to use a desktop app like WordPress’. Is this possible? I see it mentioned elsewhere that it is, but I get tripped up in the process of setting up a wordpress.com account without actually purchasing anything from them.

    Hi there,

    To use the desktop app for your self-hosted site, the site will have to be connected to your WordPress.com account via the Jetpack plugin.

    Log into WP-Admin on your site, go to Plugins ->Add New, and search for Jetpack. After installing and activating the plugin, follow the steps to connect it to your WordPress.com account.

    Once you’ve done that, if you click on My Site here on WordPress.com or in the desktop app, you’ll be able to interact with your self-hosted site.

    I get tripped up in the process of setting up a wordpress.com account without actually purchasing anything from them.

    You already have a free WordPress.com account. You’re using it to post here in the forum :)
