Valid CNAME
-
I’m trying to use my url bought through you (www.bellalynnedreamstudios.com) and use it as my primary address on another site but it said it’s not a valid CNAME. I went through your online support and found the custom settings to put in my DNS, and it still didn’t work. Am I missing something else?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Can you let me know what site you want to use your custom domain (bellalynnedreamstudios.com) with? I’d be happy to help you get it set up the way you want.
We also have information about using your custom domain with other sites here: Move Your Domain to Another Host

Thanks rachelmcr,
The site is: http://www.lizrochaphotography.photoshelter.com
I appreciate your help.

Hi there,
The CNAME record you need to point the “www” subdomain http://www.bellalynnedreamstudios.com to your Photoshelter site is this:
CNAME www custom.photoshelter.com.
That subdomain is entered on your custom DNS page under Store > Domains in your dashboard. We have more information about custom DNS here: Custom DNS
I went ahead and entered that CNAME record for you. To finish setting this up with Photoshelter, you can follow steps #3-4 under “Setting Up Your CNAME” here: https://support.photoshelter.com/entries/21625538-Overview-Setting-Up-Your-CNAME
*One thing to keep in mind is that WordPress.com does not support forwarding your root domain (bellalynnedreamstudios.com) to a subdomain (www.bellalynnedreamstudios.com). Visitors will have to include the “www” in your address to reach your site at Photoshelter.
Please let me know if I can provide any further help!

Hello,
I went into the General Settings on Photoshelter and tried entering the CNAME above, however it is still saying the CNAME is invalid.
Do I enter it exactly how it appears above or is there something missing?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
The CNAME record I gave you earlier is what needs to be entered here at WordPress.com to set it up on this end.
I checked the Photoshelter instructions, and it looks like this is what they want you to enter under Custom Domain (CNAME) in your settings there:
http://www.bellalynnedreamstudios.com
If that doesn’t work, you may need to contact their support for additional assistance with that. Please let me know if I can help with anything else. :)
