VideoPress 360 videos on iOS

    I read in the description that embedded 360 videos cannot be used on iOS Safari – this is the exact group (people with iPhones) that we want to make sure can see our 360 Videos.

    Is there any plan for making things compatible with iOS or some sort of plugin that will handle this for us?

    Hi there,

    This doesn’t work in iOS Safari, because that browser doesn’t support playback of 360 videos. It’s a limitation of Safari, not of WordPress.com, so there’s no plugin you can use on your site to make it work – Apple needs to add support for this to iOS Safari before it will work in that browser.

    And looking at https://www.theverge.com/2019/2/5/18211806/apple-ios-12-2-safari-ar-vr-motion-orientation-access that seems unlikely – on the contrary, Apple appears to be making changes that will even prevent 360 photos from working going forward unless the device owner specifically changes their browser privacy settings to allow websites to access the motion sensors in the device.
