videopress plug-in not visible on dashboard

I’ve purchased and downloaded videopress but the plug-in does not appear in dashboard. there is no video add icon visible – only music and image. when i attempt to add a video to the library it freezes on ‘crunching’

  • Hi there, with VideoPress there isn’t a separate icon for uploading video – you use the same “add media” button as you would for other types of media, such as images or video files. You can upload video through the dashboard of the site on which you purchased the upgrade, which is runningwithavision.wordpress.com.

I see several .mov files in your Media Library that were uploaded last summer. What format is the file you’re trying to upload now? How large is it?

    Hello Kathryn,
I edit in FCP then use the FCP export to YouTube option. This gives me a .mov file varying from 200MB to 800MB depending on the length of video. I’ve struggled with both the larger and smaller uploads – the upload bar completes its task but then the process freezes on ‘crunching’. Perhaps this has something to do with our bandwidth in South Africa? I’ve resorted to uploading the clips to youtube and not to my blog (unfortunate…although i did discover that i can link the YouTube links to my blog). It took a long time – nearly 3 hours to upload a 350MB file (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=DsMeyiJBY04) but ideally I would like it that all my clips sit in my blog.

  • Thanks for providing these details, they are helpful. Unfortunately, if the video upload process is interrupted, even briefly, it may fail. Is it possible to test the upload from another location/ISP, to see if your local connection might be an issue? Let me know how it goes – thanks!
