Viewers can't comment
-
I have a private blog and have 2 people that have been approved as viewers. I’m trying to check out the comment feature before I commit to the premium version. These viewers get emails announcing a new post and can see the new post in the email but they can’t comment. The site says Woops, can’t find this post. Also, are they supposed to be able to see the actual blog page? I want them to be able to see it.
Thanks, Guy SmithThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi rootjosh,
my symptoms keep changing and I need more time to characterize the problem. WordPress is very new to me. Should we leave this open or should I start a new thread when I need to? One thing that would help to know is whether people I authorize as contributors should be able to see all the pages on the blog every time they log in.
Thanks,
Guy Smith -
One thing that would help to know is whether people I authorize as contributors should be able to see all the pages on the blog every time they log in.
Do you mean all published pages? Or all draft pages? Or all password protected pages? Or all three?

Contributors will be authorized to see my private blog and I’m hoping that when they log in they will always be able can see all of the posted pages. I would like a yes or no on this question.
I don’t care if they see the drafts or not and I’m assuming that password protected means the same thing as private, so I don’t need answers on these two.
Thanks much for your help. -

Thanks. That’s what I expected. I must have something set incorrectly because when a contributor submits a post and I post it, they can view only that post from their computer. They cannot see anything that I have posted myself.
If I still need to supply a specific post url, do I need the url seen from my computer or from the contributors computer? They are both in my office so I can do either.
Thanks for helping. I’m supper happy with my postings on WordPress but I need to solve this problem before I ask any more contributors to sign up. -

I would like to ask if you are looking at the detailed posts in my blog. If you can see my posts then I can easily describe what can and can’t be seen. If you can’t see my posts then I’ll have trouble describing specifics.
Please let me know. -

Good. You should see a total of six posts. A contributor called joymainsmith has been approved to view this private site. She sent a post with her name on it and I approved it for posting. That is the top post, the one with no photo and with the words Otto Kohler. When she logs in, the top post is the only one she can see. I deleted her and re-invited her, but that didn’t change the situation.
Any suggestions? -
Ah yes, someone with the roll “Contributor” will not be able to see other posts in the dashboard. She would have to be an editor to see posts other than her own in the dashboard post list.

Hi joshroot,
Thanks so much. We hung in there and didn’t give up. I thought that if editor was good then author would be too. But author didn’t seem to work so I switched to editor and it worked. I’m very happy with this now. I’ll give you high marks in the email questionnaire I received and I’ll know who to ask when I have another question. my best, Guy Smith -
That’s great to hear! I’m glad it all got sorted out.
And thank you for the kind words. Made my day.
