Virus threat/Anonymous comment
-
My premium wordpress.com site, http://trsparties.com, is showing a computer threat on Norton’s: https://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=trsparties.com
Also, I have an anonymous comment posted 8/11/13 at 1:31 AM that I can’t trash or spam. Are these related incidents? If so, or not, what can I do?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, I ran your site through the Sucuri malware scanner, and no threats were found: http://cl.ly/image/0k3y1l2h0e05
Does Norton provide any details about the supposed threat?
Could you please provide a direct link to the comment so I can take a look? Thanks!

Thank you.
https://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=trsparties.com — the link one of our readers sent to us that started this.
The comment is attached to this post but it doesn’t show on the public site: http://trsparties.com/2013/08/12/top-ten-reasons-why-i-love-alien-sex/
The comment is from ‘Anonymous’ and gives the submitted date and time. It doesn’t give a menu below for ‘approve, spam, trash, etc.’ unless other comments are present. When that menu is present and I try to trash it or spam, it says ‘You do not have permission to do that.’ In self-hosted wordpress, I’d just go in to MySQL and delete it but I can’t do that here.
Thanks,
Tina

Hi Tina, I saw the Norton link, but I couldn’t find any specifics about the nature of the warning, am I missing something?. It only says:
“Web sites rated “Caution” may have a small number of threats and annoyances, but are not considered dangerous enough to warrant a red “Warning”. Proceed with caution.
That isn’t really much to go on. :-)
The comment is attached to this post but it doesn’t show on the public site:
I’m not able to see a comment from Anonymous on that post. Would it be possible to send me a direct link to the comment, like for example:
http://trsparties.com/2013/08/12/top-ten-reasons-why-i-love-alien-sex/comment-page-1/#comment-17769 (front end)

I understand what you’re saying. I was curious about Norton’s because it triggered a warning for one of our visitors. I’ve never had that happen before.
I know how to send a link to a comment, problem is, it’s not viewable on the site – only the comments panel of the dashboard. So I can’t. Interesting, I can get an ip address on that comment when I get other comments. It shows an ip address of 76.115.127.23
A search of location for that ip pulls up no results. If I copy it and paste it into a text document, the ip shows 76.-115.-127.-23
I’m told I’m not allowed to do anything with this comment and if I try, I’m told I don’t have permission to do it. I’m wondering if this phantom comment is the cause of the trigger in Norton’s? Either way. it’s curious and I’d really like to be able to get rid of it.
Thanks.

Hi there, I’d like to help you get rid of the comment but I first need to be able to find it. :-)
it’s not viewable on the site – only the comments panel of the dashboard
That’s OK – it’s still possible to grab a link from the dashboard so I can find the comment! The link will look something like this:
https://trsparties.wordpress.com/wp-admin/comment.php?action=editcomment&c=17769
To get a link like that, head to the Comments area of your dashboard, then click on the date next to the comment. For example:

Let me know how it goes!

I understand how to grab a link to a comment in the dashboard. This is the best I’ve got.
http://trsparties.com/comment-page-1/#comment-17353 (It’s an Ooops page)
Okay, let me put this another way. If it’s the only comment sitting there in pending. It has no post it’s attached to. When another comment lands in pending, it shows that it is attached to the same post as the other comment. So it changes constantly. I can’t open it to see if there is text or not.
Thanks,
Tina

Thank you so much! This gives me something to go on as I now have the comment ID number. :-) I’ll keep you posted.

I think I’ve been able to delete the comment. Please let me know if you still see it anywhere on your end. Thanks!
