Want rate buttons everywhere
-
I currently build a new blog. Still have questions. Sorry to use your time.
I added rate buttons. It works. But not everywhere. I have rate buttons on page one, rate buttons on article site, but not at older articles on the front page.
If you need to see it: https://mymusicblog2020.wordpress.com/
Why not? Can you help?
Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, I see that ratings appear on the blog homepage until you click the older posts button and then posts that load after that do not show the ratings on the blog homepage, but it does appear on the individual post.

Have you tried enabling infinite scroll to see if that causes the ratings to appear on the blog homepage? It doesn’t look like you have any widgets in your site footer. https://en.support.wordpress.com/infinite-scroll/
Let us know how that goes.

No. Infinite scroll is no good if you have many youtube videos in a row. Lots of bucking. And it doesn’t solve the problem either. Still no pretty rate buttons. :(
Thank you for your time! Any more help?
-
Hello again, have you removed the ratings entirely in the meantime? Now I don’t see any ratings at all on your site.
-
Hello!
No, i haven’t!
I still see rate buttons on page one (very good!) but not on the rest of the pages. And i don’t know why.
-
Huh! Odd. Same browser, different day and the ratings are back on all the posts on your homepage above the “older posts” button and on individual posts, but not on posts after the “older posts” button.
I’ve gone ahead and flagged this thread for Staff input and assistance.

Hi there,
I can also confirm that ratings don’t load for posts beyond the initial batch that loads on the front page. Toggling infinite scroll on and off also makes no difference.
However, this is not something that will be fixed. The Ratings feature you’re using was actually retired in 2015 already, and has not been updated since then. Accounts that had used the feature before that date still have access to the setting, but no accounts created since 2015, and even accounts created before then, but that never used the feature, don’t even see it under their settings any more. Your account was created in 2016, so I’m not sure how you even managed to get to that setting – it shouldn’t be visible to you.
As this feature is no longer actively maintained it will start developing more issues over time, so my recommendation is that you instead switch to the new ratings feature that you embed on individual posts and pages using a shortcode directly in the editor instead. That process is explained here:

Okay. I made the settings for the new star rating and have the javascript code.
But on the free blog i cannot find the setting to allow javascript on the blog.
If i add the javascript code as html it appears in cleartext and is not interpreted.
They say i have to add the javascript code at the end of the site. Because i cannot find a editor for that i would add it to the last post. Is that okay?
The old rating feature is found under the point feedback in the admin menu.

Hi @pflichtgetreuerhund, here’s the code we can allow on free sites on our servers:
I’m sure you can understand that when we take on role of security and site maintenance in addition to hosting and server optimization, things gets much more complex if we allow outside scripts.
If you’re running your own copy of WordPress on your own host, and managing your own security and what not, you can add code. Otherwise we do require a business plan for that here.

Oh i see. Javascript is not allowed on free wordpress sites.
I will play around with the rating feature. Maybe it works by switching it on and off.
If not i will be happy with the standard like button.
Thank you for your time. :)

Ok. Then i want “like it”-buttons on front page under every article like on the article page. Is that possible on free blogs?
I saw it before on other wordpress blogs.
-
Yes, it is indeed possible, you will need to go to Tools > Marketing and check the box next to Front Page, Archive Pages, and Search Results (in your site’s language)
The ratings option also shows up on each page if you wanted to add that. Here is how it looks on my test site’s post page:
Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
