Want to add search function to a short code.

    I am using a plugin to build a contest voting website. This plugin uses shortcode and after I add a contestant’s name in the backend it displays in the front end when I add the shortcode. However, I wish to be able to add a search function so that each contestants name can be searched by people who wish to vote without having to go through all the page content searching for their choice. It seems everything is locked up in the short code. Any help?
