Want to get my name back

    I had 2 account for a long time. Since almost any service doesn’t allow to change the registered e-mail address, I’ve searched if it is possible to change the username on WP and found it. So I have changed one of my accounts name to another name so I could change my primary account name to this name.
    At the “renaming page” is the message: “Please read this page carefully. This page is for changing your username (currently xxxxxxxx), which you use to login with. Please make sure you read the instructions and understand what’s going to change. You will not be able to change your username back.”
    Perfect, I don’t want to use this name at this account again. But, when trying to rename the second account I received the message that the name is in use. BUT IT IS NOT!
    So, I started looking for info on renaming the account at WP and found this link http://en.support.wordpress.com/change-your-username/. At this page I found the same warning message, but with a few words added: “Important:You will not be able to change your username back. [STATEMENT ADDED!]The old name will be reserved and no one will have access to it.[/STATEMENT ADDED!] URLs for other services such as Gravatar and IntenseDebate may be affected.”
    Why the message at the renaming page isn’t THIS message? How can I get my name back now!?

    I am sorry that you didn’t feel the warning was clear enough. I will review the locations where we have those instructions and see if the warning can be reworded.

    However, there is no way to revert your username back to what it was. The warning is correct, it is unavailable.
