  do I have to cancel my hostgator first in order to convert my domain name to a wordpress.com blog?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Are you transferring the content from your Host Gator blog to here? If so you need to export from HostGator and import to here – that needs to be done before the mapping (you need to reach your HostGator blog for the transfer to work)

  Double check the transfer of content before doing the domain mapping @TT has given you the instructions for above

  Once you do the domain mapping – your HostGator blog will stop working – at that point you can cancel your Host Gator hosting – but DON’T cancel the domain registration
