    Dear Sir/Madam,

When I try to share my new webpage (www.jcphysiotherapy.com) on Facebook it comes up with ‘Apologies, but no results were found for the requested archive. Perhaps searching will help find a related post.. Search:’ …..what do I need to do to change this please?

I understand the page I purchased from you is as good as any/every other webpage on the net?

    Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

I think I’ve fixed this for you. For reference, I plugged your site’s URL in here:

    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

After selecting “Debug” two new buttons pop up and I selected “Fetch new scrape information”.

Let me know if I can help with anything else!

    Wow thanks so much, Shawna!

I could not find anything online giving information for this problem. Just one other thing and its no problem if you can’t do it. But the link is now blank, is it possible to have a picture to go with it? Not for you to make one, but for a thumbnail of the site which usually comes up to appear? Thanks again :)

Of course! You can do this by adding what we call a Blavatar, or a blog avatar, here:

    https://jcphysiotherapy.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php

Here’s some more info about that:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/avatars/blavatars/

If the post or page does not include an image, or the image is too small, Facebook will fall back to this blavatar image.

Let me know if you have any more questions! :)

Thanks again Shawna :) I feel good about my blog again lol.

    Enjoy the weekend :)

    Hi Shawna,

Another problem im afraid. I tried to resolve it already with you first link you gave me… but its a bit too technical for my understanding…

    My page: http://jcphysiotherapy.com/orthopaedics/shoulder/instability-part-2/

Needs to be shared on Facebook but I cannot get a picture up or even my website logo now :/ could you help with this please?

Also if you could give me some info on how to choose a ‘thumbnail picture’ which each of my links will present?

    Thank you,

    Jason

okay I’ve managed to understand a bit more, surprisingly!

I’ve changed my permalink title to something more simple which is now bringing up pictures, but not quite the one I wanted (which is in the page).

Could you help with this problem? Thanks again.

I’m glad you figured that out! You can usually tell Facebook what image you’d like it to choose to setting a Featured Image for your page.

    https://jcphysiotherapy.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=459&action=edit

Sometimes themes use this image too, so check how your page looks after you add that image.

Thanks Shawna, I tried this and even with a featured image Facebook still seems to ‘prefer’ other images to display..

I tried looking for solutions online and its seems a plugin is needed, and for that I understand I would have to switch to a .org and have another company host my domain. I quite like my .com and as a student can’t really deal with the extra prices.

Some people online said fb prefers ‘jpg.’ images, some also say it prefers ‘200 by 200 pixel images’ or something. My images are all very very similar and of normal size which is puzzling.

If you do have any other ideas please let me know :) thanks.

Once you updated the post with a new Featured Image, you’ll likely need to force Facebook to rescrape the pages. You can do this by entering the URL of your post or page here:

    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

After you’ve selected “Debug” two new buttons will be available for you. Please select “Fetch new scrape information”.

Unfortunately, its impossible for me to tell you what image Facebook will choose outside of the Featured Image. It won’t show images that are too small, even if they’re featured. And I believe it does favor square images over rectangular images.

But for the most part, their selection is up to them.

ahh yes the force rescrape option, forgot about that :)

Thanks again Shawna. When putting in so much work and effort to a webpage and not having the technical knowledge to rectify these things, it can be such a stress. You take thats stress away!

Keep up the great work :)
