Website Compromised- need help salvaging anything or need to delte and start over

we have had our old website for too many years and now it has been ‘hacked’/compromised. bug red page. we have a solution and want to try and salvage anything since we no longer have access to the designer’s files. any advice? or do i just stop paying and start a new? we do not do IT…

Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. https://wordpress.org/support/ is a great resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
With thats said though, carefully follow this guide. When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures and start backing up your site.
Your hosting provider’s support team may also be able to assist.

thanks. i think at this point we are scrapping all but the domain, of course. too much hassle. new branding and more control is way over due. much appreciated.
