Website Contents are gone

Our website is gone. Every time we go to http://www.eamediaandpublishing.com it routes to a Coming Soon page. It’s like all our contents are gone. When we access our account it doesn’t have any.

    Site: https://eamediaandpublishing.wordpress.com.
    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

    Hi there!

I checked your domain and it looks like you may have set up some sort of redirect that is redirecting the domain eamediaandpublishing.com to your empty WordPress.com site here: https://eamediaandpublishing.wordpress.com.

I think your site might actually be hosted elsewhere (likely with GoDaddy, as that’s where the domain is pointed to right now). Can you contact GoDaddy support to have them check if you have a WordPress.org site hosted by them? If you do, they can help you with pointing the domain back to your WordPress.org site that’s hosted there.

Note that there are some differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. If you aren’t sure about them, please check the following page that explains it well: WordPress.com vs WordPress.org.

The WordPress.com site that you have with us is here: https://eamediaandpublishing.wordpress.com – since this doesn’t appear to be the right site, that makes me think you have a WordPress.org site hosted elsewhere (which is outside of our control). That’s why we suggest contacting GoDaddy support to see if your site is hosted by them.

    Regards

We have contacted GoDaddy already and they suggested contacting you since they are only the domain provider. WordPress was the hosting provider. Is it possible to check in the history if there was any previous content on this https://eamediaandpublishing.wordpress.com site?

  • @eamediaandpublishing I can see the domain currently redirects to https://eamediaandpublishing.wordpress.com/ , however that site has not had content at all.

If I had to guess, you had a site set up at GoDaddy, then created an account here with a blank site, then redirected the GoDaddy domain to the blank site. It’s possible someone thought that the WordPress.com site would automatically copy the old site, but that is not the case. We do have a process for that, but it needs to be done before you move the site over.

If I were in your shoes, I would:

    1) Ask GoDaddy for help pointing the domain back to their hosting, as that is most likely where the site exists. Then I would wait a few hours to confirm whether that works (or have someone on another connection check: you’re welcome to come back here and ask us). This should work if you didn’t cancel the hosting with them.

    2) If that did not work, or if someone got rid of hosting there before copying the site here, I’d work on copying the content over. I was able to find this and this from Google Cache. You may be able to find other content on your local computers. You’d just want to add that again so it’s on the new site.

Also, once the site content exists here, I’d recommend connecting the domain properly, since redirects like the one you have set up are not as search engine friendly: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
