  Hey! I want to create a local online directory for small businesses in my area…whats the first thing i should do after collecting the information?

  Hi there, if you are just wanting something simple, like a list of businesses and links a free blog here at WordPress.com would work for you. You could set up sections on a page and list the names of the businesses, a short description and then the link to their website and/or contact information.

  If you are wanting something a little more elaborate, you could get the WordPress.com Business plan upgrade and then have a custom domain name and use a plugin like this one

  Another alternative would be to self-host your own installation of the WordPress.org software on a different web host and then use the same plugin, or one similar to it.
