My website data has been altered, manipulated, changed around… pages added that were not approved, links changed, and website set to private with authorization… I was never notified of any hacking or updates, and so I am figuring out how and why this has happened…

I tried to fix the issue and made it much much worse. I accidentally changed the template and cannot return it to previous state.
Are you aware of any updates through wordpress that may have altered layouts, altered links, or altered the editing page in attempts to make more user friendly, but accidentally changed published websites? My website went from public to private simultaneously as layouts and links were altered so something had to have gone wrong on wordpress’ side…
I can fix them myself in time, it just has set me back several months and dozens of hours of work.
