Website deletion
-
I am the secretary for the Northwest church of Christ in Regina, SK. We have recently created a new wordpress website which we love. However, the church has an old website that we would like to have deleted but the gentleman who maintained the former site has left our congregation and we have been unable to locate him. No one knows the password. How can I go about having a dormant site deleted?

Hi there,
If somehow you have access to the email connected to the account that owns that site, you can enter that email address in our password recovery tool and gain access to it:
https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
If that doesn’t work, in order to regain access to a WordPress.com account, we’ll need one of the following things:
* An email sent from the email address on-file for the account
* A transaction ID for any upgrades purchased for the account
https://en.support.wordpress.com/transaction-id/
* The WordPress.com account activation link, which we sent to your email address when you first registered with us. If the email you received included a confirmation button instead of a link, you can copy the activation URL by right-clicking on the button and selecting “Copy Link Address” (this text may slightly vary, depending on your browser).
If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.

I have been in touch with the creator of the old site. He says he does not remember the e-mail that he used back then. He is a business owner and uses multiple e-mail addresses. Could he write you a letter? Or can you give me the address on file and then I can pass it on to him?

Hi LaVonna –
The original owner will need to recover that account through the account recovery form:
