Website displays basic page reader view, not full site via Twitter

  Hi, when I post links on Twitter, the website shows up in a blue and white basic page reader format, not the full site with the correct layout, colours, menus etc, even when I click the Safari symbol in the bottom corner, it remains the same. It doesn’t do it with any other site I try and access and the link in my bio presents the correct style and format.

  Hi there,

  What you’re seeing when visiting your site via Twitter is the AMP version of the page.

  AMP is a special protocol that Google developed, to ensure sites load as quickly as possible on mobile, and they specifically use the AMP version in search results on mobile devices. AMP is enabled on all WordPress.com sites by default.

  When you share a link to your site on Twitter, and the site has AMP enabled, Twitter will always use the AMP version rather than the full site link. There is no way to disable this in Twitter, so if you don’t want this to happen you’ll need to disable AMP on our end. Just note that if you do that, any existing AMP links already on Twitter will stop working.

  Hi, thanks for the response, turned off AMP in settings and it’s all fine now. The old links display 404 error messages but there was only about five anyway.

  Those old tweets should quickly get pushed down in your Twitter stream, yes :)
