Website Followers

    Dear support,

I am the webmaster of http://www.contrariansmind.com and I recently changed the Name Servers from the main domain to point at WordPress.com. While the Name Servers are resolved I would like to ask a few questions:

#1 – I would like to know whether there is a way to add more followers to the subscribers list. On the front end I see that there are over 150,000 followers which receive post notifications each time there is a new content.

#2 – Is there a way I could modify the HTML code of the current theme as there is no right sidebar. I would like to create a sidebar on the right in order to show twitter feeds, facebook like and additional widgets.

Looking forward to hearing frm you,

    Kind regards,

    Erion

  • #1: I’m not 100% sure what you are asking here. Are you asking if there is a way to purchase or be given more followers? Or are you asking if there is a way to manually add in followers from an external email list? In both cases the answer is no. You can invite people to view/follow your blog using these instructions:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/#invite-people-to-follow-your-blog

But that only gives them the option to follow, it does not require them to.

If you are asking something else entirely, please let me know.

#2 It sounds like you want the Custom Design upgrade:

Take a look through that page and let me know if you have any further questions. I’ll be happy to help.

    Thank you for the reply.

#1 – You answered the question. Thank you very much.

#2 – We have recently upgraded to Premium and I can edit CSS, Fonts, Colors etc. but what I cannot see is where to access the PHP files (e.g: “header.php”).

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards,

    Erion

  • It is not possible to modify php files on WordPress.com. If you require that ability, you would be better off with a self-hosted WordPress.org site.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

  • The “Chunk” theme you are using does not have sidebars. So you could also explore themes a little and see if there was a sidebar enabled theme that would work for you.
