website gone without backup. what are options?
-
My clients website hosting provider had a major incident over the weekend and my clients website is gone. https://whc.ca/blog/live-major-incident-in-progress
We do not have a backup of it. All we have is Googles webcache:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://eastvangermanschool.ca/&strip=0&vwsrc=0I have all the images still on my computer. The theme that was used to build the website was https://modernthemes.net/wordpress-themes/sensible/
I’m wondering if it’s possible somehow to recreate the website from the source code above with a plugin etc? Or what’s the easiest way?
-
I’m so sorry to hear that! I don’t know of any plugins that pull content from Google Cache. You can start with a fresh copy of WordPress, though — and you’d be welcome to hosted it here with us: https://get.wp.com. You would just copy and paste as needed. I can’t tell for sure from the cache, but if it’s a one-page site with page-jumps for the menu, here’s how you can set those up here:
https://wordpress.com/support/splitting-content/page-jumps/#create-a-page-jumpBetter still: if you ever used a cloud backup service, you can likely restore from that. Do you know if whether you had anything like that?

Thanks for trying to help…
I had built the site originally, but am no expert and just wanted to find out if there’s a quick way to get it back from the source code. I can rebuild it, just takes time…
I don’t have any local backups. Used Updraft Plus, but it was backing up to the same server which is damaged beyond repair apparently as well :( -
Do you know what affiliation WordPress has with Bluehost and Pressable or why they are recommending those 2 providers?
What do you mean when you say I can host it with you? -
Hi there,
They are recommended hosts by the WordPress community.
If you like, you can host your site in our service which is WordPress.com. You can find our plans in the link below.

Also, this article explains the differences between our platform (WordPress.com) and the WordPress software:
