Website hosted by WordPress has dissapeared!

Hi my website http://www.bencanny.com that was hosted by word press seems to have disappeared!
I have no access to the dashboard or the site. In both cases it says “this website can’t be reached”

I had my site designed by a third party company years ago that doesn’t exist anymore so can’t seem to get any help anywhere. I always just logged into the dashboard and things just ticked along! I can’t find any direct customer services to contact either.

I haven’t been contacted about any billing issues as far as I know. I was under the impression it was being hosted for free.

Bit of a disaster as it is my professional site for my work as a freelance editor. Will have to build it from scratch if I can’t get it sorted!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks Ben.

  • Hello Ben,

This site is not hosted with us on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress software at another hosting provider. This is a bit different to a site hosted on WordPress.com. You can read about these differences here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

It means we can’t assist with this site as it’s hosted with 123-reg.

Do you have access to the domain and the hosting details?

    Hi!

    Thanks for your message!

Yes I have access to the domain details at 123 reg and it is all up to date as far as I am aware. So not sure why it would suddenly go offline…

Do you have any advice at what I should be looking for?

I will also contact them of course.

    Thanks again.

  • Hello there,

The domain name servers are pointing toward 123-reg, so they would be able to tell if a site was originally hosted with them, or if it was hosted with another provider when the DNS settings changed and what they were previously.

    I hope this helps.
