Website is down
-
Our website – unitedoptout.com has been down since last Friday. We created it using wordpress. I can’t even log into it. It is pointed to wordpress so there isn’t an issue with the name server being pointed incorrectly. Could you please look into it and see why it isn’t showing up? Thank you. Peggy Robertson
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Unable to find http:// unitedoptout.com. If you’re sure you entered the correct URL, your name servers could be broken, or your domain name might have expired. Check Whois for more information.

It is listed as pointing to wordpress.com and it is a free wordpress blog. The domain exists – I checked on whois. I’m not sure what to do. The domain is only a month old and so I know it hasn’t expired – I even talked to the people I purchased it from today. We created it through wordpress. My understanding with wordpress.org is that we would have had to download software right? We didn’t download any software. Thanks for your help.

ugh…figured it out – it was created on wordpress.org from the hosting account before we asked for a refund..didn’t realize it wasn’t on wordpress.com Is there any way to transfer it to wordpress.com? Thank you for your help.

Where is the blog content situated? If it’s on a WordPress.org install then you will have to register a free hosted WordPress.COM blog. Then you export the content out of the install and import it into the free hosted WordPress.com blog you registered.
Moving from WordPress.orgThen you have to purchase domain mapping and follow the process for Mapping an existing domain (one you already own) to your WordPress.com blog

it is all at unitedoptout.com (it’s finally up now) – but through wordpress.org. I had to pay inmotion hosting to get it back up – luckily they hadn’t deleted the content yet. In your opinion is it smarter to go with wordpress.com than wordpress.org? I read the sites you sent me. I’m honestly not sure what all we are going to need yet as this organization grows.

I don’t have an opinion. I can point out the differences between the two and that’s all :)
