  Hi, i designed and built my site hashkafahandbook.com using wordpress. i have never used wordpress to host my website but have always been able to log in and edit the content on the site. i tried signing in for the first time in several months today and found that i could not login as my username and password are not found by the system! how can i access my site?

  so i was able to gain access. apparently since i changed my hosting service, i needed to install wordpress on that account. (This is not the first time ive changed hosts though, if someone can explain this to me, id really appreciate it.)
  now i just need to make sure i will still have access in the future. im a real novice here, can anyone explain to me what happened? thanks

  Hi @joeseg, were you logging in here?
  hashkafahandbook.com/wp-admin

  You shouldn’t have to create a new username there. Your own copy of WordPress is separate from our services (unless you connect it through Jetpack). Regardless, if you were logging in with us you’d need to create an account, because the account from your individual copy of WordPress won’t transfer over.. If you want to log into your site, just remember to use wp-admin.

  thanks for your response. honestly, i have no idea what i was able to do to fix the issue. im hoping it sticks for now, but if it comes up again, i will definitely be back on this thread

This is because it uses the WordPress.org software and is hosted elsewhere. There are some differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org.
