  Hi! I am remaking a website for a company using a different website builder (without nearly and many features) and want to recreate is using wordpress. Is there an easy way for me to make it and migrate it to their domain (godaddy) with much downtime? Thanks!

  Hi –

  My suggestion would be to make the site first using a free address from WordPress.com. Once you have the site finished you can connect the domain. There really shouldn’t be any down time.

  There are 2 options to move the domain to WordPress.com.

  1. Transfer it: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/
  This process does take 5 days, and the domain would need to be 60 days old.

  2. Mapping: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
  This option keeps the domain registered where it is and points it to us through DNS changes.
