Website modifications

    Hi,

I’m trying to modify a WordPress.com website that is currently on the Explorer plan and using the Business theme.

I need to modify the footer to include links to privacy policy pages etc + add a cookie banner.

It is my understanding that this is not possible with this theme (Business) as it does not support either the Site Editor or Widgets. Is that correct?

So, I am thinking the site needs to switch to a theme that supports full site editing? https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/full-site-editing

If we need to switch themes, is there a way to duplicate the site and modify a test version to get it looking correct before deploying to the live version? I am doing this on behalf of a client and do not really want to modify a live website, especially when changing themes. If that is the only option, is it easy to change back to the original theme if necessary without messing anything up? I am not very familiar with WordPress.com as I usually use .org

The other option was to upgrade her plan to Creator as I believe this supports plugins but don’t think it will allow us to achieve the above.

    Many thanks
