Website not showing

I bought my domain & paid to register it with WordPress. I published my pages, yet when I go to the site, I see only an error message which reads “Site Not Published.”
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We need a link to the domain name starting with http://
If you are talking about the WordPress.com site linked to your username, it is a private site so we can’t really see or suggest what the problem is. Would you consider making it blocked to search engines / visible to visitors temporarily?

Thank you for looking into this problem. The domain name is http://www.staffordschliefer.com/. I had previously set it up through weebly, but transfered it to WordPress. The transfer process seemed unproblematic, but the unfortunate result is that I now no longer have a website. I tried resetting wordpress as my primary domain, thinking that this would mean that traffic to staffordschliefer.com would be redirected to staffordschliefer.wordpress.com, but I still got the same message, “Site not published”. Please help.

If you mean you want your site to be visible, you need to change the Privacy settings Dashboard>Settings>Privacy to one of the options that makes it visible. Otherwise, if it remains “Private” and visible only to the people you invite to view it.

I set the privacy options as you indicated, to “Allow search engines to index this site”, but without any result: my website still doesn’t come up. I am now getting a nonsense site which purports to provide various links with the name “Stafford” in it (student loans, hotels, real estate, etc.). What else can I do to solve this problem?

The correct URL is: http://staffordschliefer.com/ no www allowed
I see a site that has the first post: Welcome to Stafford Schliefer’s website
It can take 24 to 72 hours for changes to reach the far corners of the internet

As auxclass said above, if you have just recently purchased the domain name and changed your DNS settings in your Domain dashboard, it may take up to 72 hours for the domain name to filter through the Internet.

Hooray!
That may be the longest I’ve seen domain propagation to take and it always seems that the domain owner is the last person to see it. Perhaps local caching issues.
WordPress.com does have a brand-spanking new tool to help with domain issues http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-helper/ Not a lot of information yet about what it is supposed to do.
