  I need to redo my current website and I want to do it parallel to my existing site then convert and replace the current site when it is finished.
  How do I create a development site with WordPress?

  You certainly can get your site set up here before switching your domain over!

  When you sign up for a new site, we give you a free subdomain (*.wordpress.com) that you can use to start building your new site.

  Here’s a guide that will help you migrate your site to WordPress.com:

  Have a look at http://www.opus-faveo.com. This site is way to complicated for the services we offer. We want a simple site with maybe four or five topics. Who we are, what we do, our portfolio companies and news and views.

  If you are wanting to start fresh with a new design, one thing you can do is just import the pages, blog posts, and other content, but not the design itself (the theme, as it’s called here)

  To do that you can create an export file on your current site, then start a new site here to import those contents into. We discuss the process in more detail here: https://transferto.wordpress.com/self-hosted-wordpress-org/2/
