Website transfer

    Hello,
I am considering moving my website from GoDaddy website builder to WordPress. Can you please help me with the advantages of doing this and if there are any issues that I need to be aware of.

    Thank you!

  • Hi there,

We do not have a specific importer tool for the GoDaddy website platform, so the largest issue to be aware of is that you may need to manually move over your content (text/images) since we don’t have an automated way to do that.

In the plus column, we’re a modern website builder interface that allows you to create page layouts using “blocks” that are a bit like legos, but for text and images. Also WordPress is a platform with very broad use on the internet (40% of all sites on the internet run on WordPress) so if your built in functionality does not fit your needs, you always have the option to upgrade and add new tools, including “plugins” that are built for WordPress by outside companies, and allow you to create pretty much any site functionality that you need.

Also we’re an open platform (unlike GoDaddy’s tool) so if things don’t work out for some reason you are welcome to export your content to any other platform, and because WordPress is so prevalent most other platforms are able to import WordPress content.

Because you are checking out what WordPress is capable of, this guide may be helpful: https://wordpress.com/learn/

It is written with beginners in mind, and covers all the essentials

Also happy to answer any specific questions you have. Hope this helps!
