Website went inactive after refund

  • Unknown's avatar

I had a charge on my account for a Premium Plan upgrade that I never ordered. I did a live chat with someone who refunded the amount and since then my website has been inactive and I am getting a message saying I now owe more money. Also my domain name seahagg.com is no longer linked to my account. I don’t feel I owe this extra amount simply because I was refunded for a plan I never requested. What do I need to do to make my website live again?

  • Hi there,

On 13 May 2018 your domain mapping renewed for the domain, seahagg.com for $13

On 20 June you disputed that charge with your bank, accusing us of fraud, and causing that upgrade to be removed from your account.

On 20 August, you paid the chargeback fee of $15 to unlock your site, and bought a Premium Plan and a new domain mapping upgrade for $96.

We refunded that Premium Plan payment on 27 September, at your request, and also removed the Premium Plan, leaving the mapping upgrade intact. The chargeback fee is not refundable, so we did not refund that.

A week later, on 3 October you again filed a chargeback against us, for the payment that we’d already refunded. This has caused your account to be locked again, and the mapping upgrade to be removed again.

To get your site working again you either need to contact your bank and withdraw the dispute against us, or pay the chargeback fee to unlock your site and purchase a new domain mapping upgrade to reconnect your domain.

You can find our complete policy on chargebacks and disputes here:

Thank you for your help. I apologize for the confusion. When the charge showed on my credit card, I contacted WordPress but was unable to reach anyone. It was the credit card company that thought the charge could be fraudulent. The credit card company has been contacted and the dispute has been withdrawn. Is there anything else that needs to be done to get the site working again? And how long might it take for the site to be reactivated? I appreciate your assistance!!

  • We’re not immediately notified when a dispute is withdrawn, but I’ve asked our billing team to check on this one, and we should be able to restore your domain mapping as soon as they give the all clear. I’ll hopefully get back to you within a few hours.

  • Okay, the chargeback is still showing as active on our end, but we’ve added back the mapping upgrade on your account.

Our billing team will check this again in a couple weeks, and will follow up with you in case any further action is required.
